The “Mekaniker Jacket” draws on the fit and function of early mechanic’s apparel, reinterpreted in a Japanese fabric that blends tradition with utility. Woven by Salou Inc., the 200 gsm cloth combines 54% washi paper and 46% cotton. Washi, long valued in Japanese craft for its strength and breathability, lends the textile a crisp hand and dry structure.

Before construction, the fabric is dyed on Amami Ōshima using doro-zome, a traditional mud-dyeing process where minerals from the island’s mud and rivers are absorbed into the fibers. The week-long method produces irregular, organic variations, making each length of cloth unique in tone.

The jacket is cut and sewn in Italy, finished with a full-zip collar, large three-dimensional hand pockets, Riri zips, and Cobrax buttons — durable details that root the garment in workwear tradition.
